For a building that has been used for so many different purposes over the course of the last few centuries, the Dreadnought Building’s latest restoration and adaptation creates the perfect harmony between the past and the future.
On behalf of the University of Greenwich, Willmott Dixon’s team is now fully refurbishing the Grade 2 listed building with some significant alterations in the basement and main atrium.
This extraordinary transformation will create a new gateway into campus for the University of Greenwich providing a modern environment for students today, and in the future, within an historic building.
When complete, it will be the ‘go to’ place on campus for students, staff, and visitors to the university. There will be lots of learning spaces that are built to the needs of students, plenty of social space, a 500-person capacity bar, a state of the art gym. Some facilities will also be available to the local Greenwich community.
The building will also accommodate the Faculty of Education and Health’s psychology, public health, social work and some teacher training education programmes along with and the university's Information and Learning Services department.
We will kick-start your visit with a brief site induction and presentation before kitting you out in personal protective equipment (PPE) and taking you off on a tour of the site.
Along the way we will show you some of the interesting features which make this project so special.
We will have a few our Management Trainees on hand to give you an insight into our great Trainee programme and the exciting diverse roles within construction. Ever thought about a career in construction? Let us know!
In addition to the tour, if you are considering studying a built environment programme, there will be a chance to speak to University of Greenwich lecturers and architecture students, as well as collect course information and visit the nearby Stockwell Street building where the courses are taught.
We look forward to seeing you there.
