Allerton Waste Recovery Park
Taylor Woodrow - A division of VINCI Construction UK Contact
We are designing and building a state of the art integrated waste management facility at Allerton, North Yorkshire.
The facility will process up to 350,000 tons of waste per year using mechanical-biological sorting. 40,000 tonnes per year will go through anaerobic digestion with energy recovery from biogas, and around 300,000 tonnes will be treated in two Energy from Waste (EfW) streams, generating enough electricity to power up to 40,000 homes.
Visitors will be given a presentation on key construction facts for the project along with an overview of the progress made to date.
They will then be taken on a site tour and get the opportunity to climb to the top of the waste bunkers and look inside the 17000m3 space, walk through the energy from waste bunker hall to see the various components that make up the main boilers and appreciate the complexity of the installation, view the installation of the waste sorting/recycling centre process equipment and also see the other civil engineering construction works ongoing.
Reception has accessible access and the presentation can be undertaken at the ground floor training room. Please advise in advance so the disabled parking bays are reserved. However, the site tour element of the visit will not be possible as there is no disabled access available for this.
Minimum age of 16, however please submit a specific request if you want to bring a younger child along as we may be able to accommodate depending on numbers.
