Keepmoat Contact

The development of Spring Close, Kinsley (south east of Wakefield) will see the completion of 100 new homes, roads and open space. The Greenfield development will comprise of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes ranging from 651sqft to 1,149 sqft.

Like many former mining communities, the area faced a number of social and economic problems and suffered from a notorious reputation. To tackle this we have worked hard to change perceptions of the area through a strong marketing campaign whilst also offering a variety of house types and tenures to ensure a more mixed and sustainable community.

We held consultation and engagement events to allow local people to inform the regeneration plans. We also ensured local trades were directly involved through ‘local labour’ events aimed at sourcing our labour force from the community.

We have local community initiatives and forged strong links in the local community following our nearly completed development at Fitzwilliam. Since starting on site in October 2016 we aim to support the following organisations with work experience, sponsorships, site visits and increase the health and safety awareness to those within the area.

•             Hemsworth Miners Welfare Social Clubs

•             Hemsworth Arts & Community Academy

•             Groundwork Wakefield

•             Kinsley & Fitzwilliam Resource Centre (a local community and education centre).

Kinsley & Fitzwilliam ‘Old Folks Treat’

The proactive and collaborative approach of Keepmoat and Wakefield Council has been central to the delivery of new homes in the area. This has ensured the development has been delivered successfully and sustainably and that the regeneration impacts will have a positive legacy for our commitment to Wakefield.

Our work with the community has also helped build social capital in the area and ensured the long-term security of groups such as the cricket, bowls and football clubs.
