Royal Academy of Music
We are currently on site carrying out an £11m refurbishment of the Sir Jack Lyons Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music on Marylebone Road in north-west London, which will remain live for the duration of the project.
Our works include the alteration and refurbishment of the existing theatre which lies in the centre of the Academy. In order to construct the new 100 seat rooftop Recital Hall and associated spaces we have carried out strengthening works to the existing foundations in the basement and removed and replaced the roof structure.
We are also reshaping the auditorium, constructing a new balcony with improved sight lines and increased seating capacity of 40%, enlarging the orchestra lift pit, constructing a new stage, proscenium, wings and fly tower and providing a spacious new gallery foyer.
These works will transform the theatre’s ambience, sight lines, backstage facilities and acoustic quality.
Your visit will start with a short presentation about our site, following by a site tour which will include viewing
- Commencing the cladding build up for the Recital Hall copper roof.
- Plastering and blockwork in various areas
- Ductwork and first fix electrics
- Scaffold temporary roof
We hope to be able to include a short activity which maybe plastering or brickwork.
This will be followed by Q&A
