Design and build new three storey teaching facility including classroom, laboratories and engineering workshop. The Materials Engineering Centre will provide a new engineering hall to accommodate further research and teaching space for two workstreams, namely Advanced Steel Research Centre (ASRC) and National Plastics Processing Centre (NPPC).
These two complementary workstreams will allow research and teaching at an “engineering” scale in these two dominant material types, in composites of the two materials and in hybrid structures. By bringing the two together there are benefits from complementarity and synergy, the sharing of testing and characterisation equipment and economies of scale in the building structure.
This building and is to be constructed in the Central Campus area on the Academic Loop Road in between the IINM and Phytobiology buildings.
