UK’s Largest Fruit and Vegetable Facility located in Vauxhall/Nine Elms on a 56 Acre site

A Turnkey Project which will fully replace the existing Covent Garden Market Facility with a new World Class Market

Complex & Logistically Challenging Project

Undertaken across Multiple Phases

Resultant 10+ Year Development Programme

Design & Build Contract subject to inflation, contingency and market fluctuations

There are currently 2 phases being constructed – Trader Blocks (A1B1) and a Security Lodge.

The Security Lodge (£2.4m) is a new facility for the operations team of New Covent Garden Market. The building covers 3 floors including welfare, plant rooms, offices and a control room. Also included within this phase; construction of surrounding infrastructure, section of market loop road with associated drainage and services (£1.4m).

The Trader Blocks are approximately 67m wide and range in lengths from 170m to 266m. The steelwork superstructure is a traditional two-span portal frame design at 6.2m centres with a central ridge prop at 12.4m centres (i.e. intermediate portal frames). The sides of the buildings have cantilevered walkway’s and plant decks fixed to the portal frame structure. Architectural enhancements provide improved aesthetic aspects of the market buildings to make it different.
