Forming part of Liverpool’s Mayor designated Development Zone known as the Knowledge Quarter, Paddington Village supports Liverpool City Council’s vision to build on the city’s thriving life science sector. The scheme will provide a variety of workspaces for science, technology, education and health, along with associated living accommodation, restaurants, cafes and shops.
Morgan Sindall is currently working as Liverpool City Council's contractor partner to deliver circa £150m of works on the 'Central' site. Projects under construction include The Spine (the Royal College of Physicians' new headquarters), and the infrastructure and public realm works which will tie all the developments on the scheme together. Future schemes include a multi-storey car park and a new 160 bed hotel with 60-bedroom aparthotel.
The site site poses unique challenges, including dramatic site-wide level changes of up to 13m and the proximity of the historic Williamson Tunnels - the full extent of which stands currently unmapped.
Attendees will receive a presentation which provides an overview of the Paddington Village development, along with a site walk around of our infrastructure activities which include: highways works, public realm, extensive drainage works, services diversions, contig piling and associated groundworks for future plots.
The site walk around will also encompass The Spine which will be approximately 26wks into construction. Attendees will learn about the foundations, drainage and GFS of this Reinforced Concrete framed building, and its unique curtain wallling system which features a ceramic facade which mimics a pattern of human skin cells. A life size sample panel of the facade will be available to view.
The next Open Doors will take place from Monday 16 - Saturday 21 March 2020.
