OPAL (a joint venture between Galliford Try and Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing) have successfully secured Brunel Street Works in Canning Town, as part of an LDP disposal process. This vast regeneration scheme, will create 975 new homes through 35% open market sale, 30% PRS and 35% affordable housing (60% of which will be rented and 40% shared ownership). 

The 975 mixed tenure homes will be delivered across 5 distinct blocks, ranging from 9 to 26 storeys in height, with one third of the new homes earmarked as ‘PRS’ for Metropolitan Thames Valley’s specialist PRS subsidiary Fizzy Living and L&Qfor the affordable homes element.

In addition to the new homes, the residentialled development will create over 9,000m2 of mixed non-residential use, including a 152nr.
bed hotel for Premier Inn, retail, commercial and community space, generating job opportunities for local people and to enliven both Silvertown Way and the new public space within the development. Galliford Try’s approach began during the early stages of planning and design with inputand guidance from our Sales Team to ensure that the aspirations of our purchasers and target markets are fully incorporated into the unit layouts specifications and wider scheme proposals.

There are various significant site constraints on the scheme with regards to its location. Close proximity to the DLR, Canning Town and Silvertown Railway Stations, which all directly adjoin the site, and the nearby London City Airport which imposes height restrictions on the development

Works are progressing across the 5 blocks.

The superstructure to block A has commenced with the formation of the core.  The slip form deck will be used to form the lift shaft and the stair core to the 26th floor.  The ground floor structures such as the columns have also commenced. 

The superstructure to block B is well underway with the formation of the core at level 17 and the floor slabs at various stages of completion on the 3rd and 4th floor.

The superstructure is at level 8 and 7 between cores 1 and 3 respectively.  The structural framing steel is ongoing to 2nd floor.

Ground works to block D and E are ongoing and we anticipate starting the superstructure to D within 4 weeks.
