Galliford Try Building Southern have been instructed by Lambeth Council to undertake the work to Blocks A and B at Carlton Masions, Somerleyton Road.
The site for Blocks A & B is situated on the corner of Cold Harbour Lane and Somerleyton Road. Block A is the existing Carlton Mansions building. An existing locally significant mural known as "Nuclear Dawn" is on the side of the Carlton Mansions, this mural will be protected during the works. Block B consists of an old-school building and its associated external works.
The predominant land use in the area is residential, with most of it being low rise terraced housing, a mixture of Victorian stock and newer developments. To the North West of the site is a concentration of commercial land uses, predominantly retail and employment uses, and to the East are two educational facilities, Hillmead Primary School and the Evelyn Grace Academy, a Secondary School.
Block A consists of a complete refurbishment of all floors and internal areas to turn a once residential property into a modern commercial space.
Block B will compromise a 15000 cubic meter bulk dig, to enable a displacement foundation to be installed. Block B will be a brand new state of the art Theatre with two large Theatres and smaller studios accompanied by many more areas to learn / perform.
Following a visitor safety briefing and an introduction to Galliford Try, guests will be accompanied by our experienced site management team on a tour of the site, with a valuable Q&A opportunity provided at the end of the visit.
