The Research Hub is part of the redevelopment of the old Western Infirmary campus. The building itself will provide the university with a new physical space devoted to nurturing interdisciplinary thematic research ‘at scale’ – crossing traditional boundaries and established ways of working. It will be unique in providing researchers in all disciplines with the opportunity to move away from the silos that currently constrain such collaborations and bring them together to form focussed teams of research expertise from diverse areas to address existing and future problems. The building itself sits in the middle of the old Western Infirmary Campus to the west side of what will be the new University Square.
Visit will consist of Presentation on University of Glasgow project with a focus on the Reserach Hub. This will be followed by a visitors induction and site walk.
The Research Hub building comprises of a 6 storey concrete frame which is clad in concrete panels, terracotta faced panels, glazed window units and curtain walling. Internally the building has research labs on 4 of the 5 floors with public facing space to the other floor level. High spec. internal finishes and a large, bright atrium allow the building to connect Church Street to the University Square.
