The Project involves part demolition of the previous extensions to the original Grade B listed building, new build construction to the south and west of the original building while protecting the historic façade of the exterior and transforming it with the addition of a fly-tower, the refurbishment of the existing Victorian auditorium with the creation of a new studio theatre and installation of a new foyer and also the associated external works.
The objective of the refurbishment of this Category B Listed building is to improve visitor, performer and staff experiences, and to ensure that this treasured Victorian venue remains central to culture and community in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. The transformation of the front-of-house spaces is to create a vibrant and unique social gathering place that fully supports the breadth of work and ethos of the theatre.
