A research institute for innovative materials, processing and numerical technologies.
The construction of a new 4 storey research building at the centre of the existing Swansea Bay campus which will provide accommodation for researchers from the Faculty of Engineering and Industry.
This building is split into three distinct but linked areas;
Research office building (open office/cellular offices and seminar/meeting rooms, research hubs for researchers and company hot desking)
Laboratory and workshop building (Large open plan research/laboratory space (factory setting) research hub)
IMPACT will deliver a high impact, transformative research environment aligning world class technology development and delivery with training in a highly multidisciplinary environment including intensive collaboration between industry and academia. The project has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government and Swansea University. It is supplemented by more novel areas such as photovoltaic research with co-location of Wales’ Solar Photovoltaic Academic Research Consortium (SPARC II).
