About Project Tempo

Project Tempo is a £40m refurbishment of large commercial offices owned by Legal and General which is in Maidenhead town centre. The project commenced in February and completion is latter 2023.

The scheme involves upgrading and updating the buildings appearance with new glazing whilst retaining much of the existing exterior stone to produce a modern sustainable and energy efficient façade.

The existing roof over hangs and main roof area are being removed to make way for two further floors and on the south elevation a two-storey extension will be constructed to form the new entrance lobby and shared work area. The additional floor layouts efficiencies which include reducing the existing two atriums in size will add a total 21,500sq ft to the existing building.

On the southeast corner of the building a large section of the ground floor slab is being removed so a new slab at a lower floor can be installed which will form the new café on Kings Street. The building will have low energy technology including over 5,000 sq. ft of roof top solar panels and air source heat pump technology to achieve an expected 39% reduction in the buildings carbon emissions.

The project is targeting to achieve an EPC A and BREEAM Excellent rating which will make this building one of the greenest buildings in the Thames Valley. It’s also estimated that £111 million in social value will be generated over the development lifecycle brining significant social and economic benefits to the wider community.

Installation of the Raico cladding system.

Internal fit out works – Dryling, Ceilings and partitions.

Roofing/weathering works.
