About Rangeford Villages, Homewood Grove Chertsey
Over the next two years, the 4.7-acre brownfield site will be transformed into a state-of-the-art retirement community for the over 60s. The project will consist of 116 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, ranging from 700 sqft to 1,200 sqft.
The properties will be highly energy efficient and include modern features such as underfloor heating, double-glazed picture windows, and an all-electric energy system to help lower bills and reduce the environmental impact. Electric car charging points, an electric pool car, and communal transport will all be available for residents' use.
Residents will also benefit from state-of-the-art amenities, including a wellbeing centre (pool, steam room, and sauna), gym, dance studio, bistro and bar/coffee/shop, a member's lounge, village hall, and a hair and beauty salon. The community will be staffed 24/7, and each home will be fitted with electronic tablets to receive updates on activities and social clubs at the village and to request emergency assistance.
Homewood Grove is located towards the centre of Runnymede Borough, one mile to the south-west of Chertsey town centre. The site is bounded along the northern edge by B386 Holloway Hill. The site is 1.9 hectares as part of a wider 9.9- hectare masterplan. The 1.9-hectare site forms the retirement community element as part of the masterplan vision.
The main components of this scheme are concrete pads and foundations with a reinforced concrete structure above, externally there are three elements to the façade finish – Hardie Plank, Knauf render system and a GF brick work band which interface with uPVC windows, doors, and bolt on balconies. The roof is complete with a flat system and tiled gables at the end of each wing. Internally the apartments utilise mechanical ventilation heat recovery and electric heating with 10% renewables in this case, photovoltaics to the roof.
The scheme has an overall duration of 109 weeks and will deliver the final phase for late April 2024.
This visit will include a brief presentation on Willmott Dixon and the project itself followed by a safety briefing and tour of the site.
Following the tour there will be a short presentation on careers in construction led by a management trainee for those that may be interested.
