About Hope Valley Railway Upgrade: Dore & Totley

VolkerRailStory are currently working in Dore & Totley to install and extend rail track, a second platform and a new, accessible footbridge as part of the Hope Valley Railway Upgrade, which will remove bottlenecks along the Hope Valley line to increase the reliability of passenger journeys.


Activity

Visitors will be given a presentation at the project's site office by a member of the project team, to provide an overview of the work and an insight into railway engineering. They will be given PPE to change into, before walking by foot (approx. 20 minute walk) to where the team are carrying out earthworks next to the railway line at West View Lane. Here, they will be talked through the work by a member of the site team.

About VolkerRailStory Joint Venture

VolkerRailStory is a joint venture of engineering companies VolkerRail and Story Contracting, and was formed in February 2021, when it was contracted to deliver the Hope Valley Railway Upgrade on behalf of Network Rail. The organisation, which is made up of approximately 150 people, consists of a number of different project teams, including delivery, engineering, design, signalling and planning teams, as well as commercial, environmental and stakeholder teams, required to deliver the Hope Valley project.
