About HS2 Willesden Logistics Hub
The Willesden logistics hub is a 30-acre site which is central to the London tunnels part of HS2. It has been dubbed the beating heart of HS2 in London as this is where waste from the 26 miles of tunnels being built will be processed. The construction of HS2’s London tunnels will require more than five million tonnes of earth to be excavated.
At peak operation, eight trains per day will depart and arrive at the logistics hub, maximising the use of rail freight in the construction of HS2 in London, resulting in one million fewer lorry movements on the country’s roads.
Activity
Visitors will see the site in operation as it processes waste ready for transportation. From the 1.7 mile conveyor system to the trains taking soil to 3 locations across the UK. They will also have the opportunity to speak to a variety of people working on the project including an apprentice engineer and a drone pilot.
