Design & build the new HMT Sancta Maria Hospital to replace an existing facility currently located in Uplands Swansea. This will further enhance the level of care. The Healthcare Management Trust provide and enhance the quality of service for all patients.

The proposed Hospital will provide:

MRI scanning facilities

Onsite basement parking

Consulting rooms

Reception and admin areas

Ward accommodation

3 Theatres and recovery

Day surgery unit

The construction of the new facility has primarily reinforced concrete which has been  supported with 298 (Continuous Flighted Auger) CFA piles which has formed the foundations. External finishes will be a mixture of brickwork, timber and metal cladding.

The building is 17m tall from the basement to the top of the stair tower, 4 stories in total, including Basement carpark 2 floors of clinical space and a plantroom on the roof, the clinical space is approximately 3600m^2

The building is substantially watertight with the majority of the windows installed, the Steel Framing System (SFS) has been completed along with the purple weather defence board to allow the internal trades to commence. Externally Brickwork has commenced on the south and east elevations.

Internally partitions are underway with metal framing and boarding, Mechanical and Electrical works have started with the installation of ventilation ductwork and internal pipework, the Blockwork for the Xray room has also been completed.

In the Basement all of the underground services have been installed and tarmacking has commenced with a view to completion by the end of January. The soffit of the basement is being insulated prior to the install of lighting and sprinklers for the underground car park

 

Over the coming months we will progress externally with brickwork, timber boarding and metal cladding. The service yard will be formed and external roads and paths will begin to take shape.

Internally the M+E will progress with the install of data, power, sprinklers, Heating & cooling systems and fire alarms. The internal walls will be completed prior to the installation of the ceiling and internal decoration. Specialist installers of Theatre equipment, MRI/Xray and Kitchen will commence on site all in the next few weeks to achieve a Construction completion in September 2020
