The new ICEPS facility will provide state of the art research and teaching areas for the engineering and physical science faculties.  Work involves the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Old Mining Building with a 6 storey extension and basement construction to the rear of the building.  Extensive service diversions are required early in the construction programme in order to divert an existing service tunnel that currently dissects the site.

The superstructure consists of a concrete and steel frame with the envelope a mixture of curtain walling and reconstituted stone panels.

Internally the building houses a mixture of high tech laboratory areas and research offices with class 3, 4 and 5 clean rooms in the basement.

Envelope works and internal fit out.
