About New Covent Garden Market Redevelopment – Phase B2
The market redevelopment consists of construction of a new F&V market whilst the existing is gradually migrated into the new with demolition taking place in phases. Whilst the new market is constructed the traders will continue to trade from their existing units.
The scope of the Works is the design, construction, completion, testing and commissioning of the Works, comprising:

Construction of new Buildings for the Fruit & Vegetable Market·
Construction of new Flower Market/ Food Exchange Building – Food Exchange completed·
Refurbishment of existing Multi-Storey Car Park – Completed· Construction of new Waste Compound,
Sports Pitches above and Adjacent Welfare & Plant Areas – Completed·
Construction of new Interim Flower Market & Single Deck Car Park – Completed·
Construction of new Infrastructure & Services, Roads and Hardstandings, Toll Plazas, etc.·
Construction of a new security lodge – Completed·
Phased construction of the new trader blocks. Block A & B1 are complete, the current phase is B2.·
Interim Construction of the Permanent Flower Market to take the form of Interim Distribution Units – Completed
All works are to be undertaken in a phased sequence.
Due to the phased execution of the works the duration of the scheme is expected to be 10 years 6 months.
Fruit & Vegetable Market -The new Fruit & Vegetable Market blocks approx. 50,000m2 in area will be located to the west of the main Market Site; the buildings being single storey, steel framed clad with profile sheeting, floors are resin coated concrete and the units are sub-divided with composite panels.
