About Royal Oldham
The project is a design and build project covering four levels.-0,01,02 and 03.
Level -0 is a plant area and the remaining footprint to remain fallow.
Levels 0 and 1 are duplicate none surgical 24 bed wards with auxiliary rooms.Level 2 is to remain fallow with level 3 being the plant area .
As all NHS trusts bed spaces are very limited in the current climate and the project will provide needed relief with regards to this issue. Each floor plate is approx. 1,600 m2.
Before building works commenced two number existing buildings where demolished and existing live services including gas ,water and data had to be relocated outside of the new build footprint .
The build is unusual due to having no internal stairwells or lifts and all access is via links to the existing building following completion.
The project also extends outside of the new build foot print and works are also ongoing to install a new generator housing at the front of the hospital that will provide backup power in the event of mains power loss to the building.
IHP have been instructed to future proof the building to enable the fallow floors to be fitted out at a future date.
