About Springfield Village - Redevelopment of Springfield University Hospital
STEP Springfield Village Limited (STEP) – (Master developer STEP is a partnership between Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures and Kajima Partnerships. Main Contractor – Sir Robert McAlpine Limited)
Springfield Village includes:
State-of-the-art mental health facilities offering the latest care to the highest standards 839 new homes to be delivered by Barratt London, City & Country and London Square Delivery of a new 32-acre landscaped public park offering play areas, community garden, café and a trim trail A centralised energy centre and district heating system reducing carbon emissions High quality public realm and infrastructure around the estate including ‘Chapel Square’ with five retail units A 64-bed care home
Its very ‘green’ - we took no soil off site despite moving 35,000m3 of it into the new park, that is the same volume as 70 average family homes.
We planted more than 700 new trees.
The Ponds in the park take all our (and the residential estate) rainwater and prevent flooding.
Springfield village is the largest urban regeneration in London since the 2012 olympic park.
The park already has its first users - 125 Geese, mostly Canadian but including some Egyptian Geese.
We have already won an (architectural) award for the outside spaces.
Springfield Drive takes 13 mins to walk from Burntwood lane to Glenburnie or 0.7miles.
PLEASE NOTE: Your site visit will involve quite a bit of walking with the possibility of uneven ground and stairs so please wear appropriate footwear.
Activity
We will do a tour of Trinity Hospital Building, Chapel Square and walk round the new Springfield Park.
