About Gascoigne West Phase 2
Wates Residential was appointed by Be First in 2019 to regenerate the Gascoigne Estate in Barking. The new estate has been designed to accommodate a mixed tenure community with over 60% of the homes available for affordable rent and the remainder for use by Barking and Dagenham Council to add to its current housing stock. Plans include 89 one bedroom, 88 two bedroom and 24 three-bedroom homes.
The regeneration of the Gascoigne Estate will also include electric car charging points and over 360 new push-bike parking spaces. There will be a 40 per cent reduction in carbon emissions thanks to a connection to the forthcoming Barking Town Centre District Heating Network solar panels.
Wates Residential’s commitment to the borough includes recruiting a minimum of 20% local workforce, creating at least 20 new jobs for local people and addressing the construction industry skills shortage with a wider education programme that will run throughout local schools from year 6 upwards.
