About Wallyford Learning Campus
Wallyford Learning Campus is a new 1000 pupil capacity Secondary School for the local Wallyford area, taking pupils from Wallyford and the adjacent towns nearby. The school showcases large open social spaces to promote modern teaching and has a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) wing that will be used by pupils and by Edinburgh College and a Severe and Complex Needs wing which will facilitate the provision of care to secondary age young people and home to an excellent hydrotherapy pool facility, additionally a tots and teens facility. The west side of the ground floor boasts a 4 court games hall, a smaller gymnasium, dance studio and directly above on the first floor lies the fitness suite, with a panoramic glazed front that overlooks the 2G Hockey pitch and 3G Football Rugby pitch with the firth of forth in the backdrop. The school is designed around large hellerup type lecture/seating spaces, with a magnitude of internal glazed screens and glass balustrades - offers connectivity of all departments within the school from the main atria and plenty of natural daylight. The external design is based around the local coal mining history and to tie in with Wallyford Primary School across the road, this is deliver through the use of a black metal cladding and a cream coloured brick that ties the building in nicely to the immediate environment.
