The project involves the construction of a 2 storey, 28 bed medium secure mental health unit. The ground floor comprises a mixture of bedrooms, staff offices and recreational areas. The first floor contains the mechanical and electrical services required to service the building.
Drainage works include the installation of foul and surface water and a new attenuation tank.
The construction of the unit is a steel frame structure with metal deck flooring with concrete poured slab. The roof is a mixture of single ply membrane and kalzip standing seam and the building is clad in a combination of render and timber cladding.
Externally, there will be a perimeter footpath for access around the building and a new 5m high secure boundary wall that ties in to the existing secure wall.
