This project comprises the construction of a brand new secondary school with 6th form facilities within a residential area of Purfleet, Essex. The site is neighboured by Network Rail and the Thames to the south, a large timber yard to the east side and residential houses and flats to the other boundaries and in the near vicinity. The site was previously occupied by industrial units and a paper mill which were cleared prior to Kier taking control of the site.
Harris Academy Riverside is a 6FE free school, with 1,150 places including a 250 place 6th Form.
The site selected for the school has an area of 6.6 acres and the new school will be operated by Harris Federation.
The school is formed of two buildings. Both are constructed using steel frame and concrete planks, the dominant cladding materials are brick, render and to the sports hall metal cladding. The larger teaching Block houses the academic classroom. The smaller building is the Sports Block.
The Client is DfE.
Visitors will have an opportunity to view behind the hoarding, to see how the build is progressing. This exciting new modern educational facility will have lots to offer young people once the build is complete.
The tour will include a brief induction, a project overview, a walk around the site, a summary of what the project has achieved, opportunities created from the project and questions and feedback.
