Willmott Dixon are constructing their third project for Bournemouth University, building a new 5,575m2 four storey specialist teaching facility. The Poole Gateway Building will provide high-quality technical facilities that support undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as research. The building will include facilities for TV (live and post production), audio studios, sound editing labs, media production spaces, green screen with motion capture suite, PC and Mac laboratories and cross-faculty collaboration spaces. These facilities will be predominantly used by the Faculty of Science & Technology and the Faculty of Media & Communication, they will also be used by the Faculty of Management.

Designed to form a new visual gateway to the campus and its parkland, this project forms part of a wider £100m programme to expand facilities at the university. The project also assists in the regeneration of the eastern end of the campus and provides additional floor space at Talbot Campus to generate growth in student numbers.

The project is planned to handover in the Summer of 2019.

The project will be in week 61 of 75 during Open Doors week.

Installation of the Alucobond cladding will continue to the façade. Roof ductwork, mechanical and electrical services, and PV panel installations will be underway on the roof. External works such as below ground drainage, services and attenuation tanks will be being installed.

Internal works will be taking place which will include dry lining, installation of ceilings, mechanical and electrical works, installation of balustrades and finishes such as carpentry, door installations, decorating, flooring and fit out of the specialist studio areas.
