Kori Construction has been appointed by Cinnamon Care Collection to deliver a landmark £17 million care home development on Station Road, in Hampton. The project will transform the site of a Victorian former police station into a 75-bed care home with eight care suites.
Works will involve the demolition of an existing warehouse and the creation of a new care facility behind the carefully preserved façade of the historic police station. The scheme also features basement construction, undercroft car parking and a glazed two-storey link building.
Communal gardens at lower ground level, a communal roof terrace at second floor, and a central courtyard with a large green wall will ensure that all residents have access to outside space.
Key architectural features, including the façade and distinctive bull’s eye window, will be retained and integrated into the new design. The building will use traditional materials such as facing brickwork with stone detailing, rendered plinths, and slate roofs to match the new care home to its surroundings.
Sustainability and energy efficiency are at the core of the design, with insulation standards exceeding Building Regulations. The building form, fabric, and services will be designed to minimise energy use while creating comfortable, modern living environments for residents.
Visitors will hear about the wide range of inclusive careers available within the construction industry, and learn about how the site of a former Police Station is being transformed into a much needed purpose-built luxury care facility, the challenges of retaining elements of the old build and ensuring the new building’s design is sympathetic to neighbouring buildings, followed by a site tour.
