The proposed new Future Greenwich College scheme at Plumstead consists of a new 5 storey higher educational development for London South-east Colleges (LSEC). The proposed College has a GIFA (gross internal floor area) of circa 5420m2 split over 5 floors, providing approximately 1050sqm on each floor. The college will comprise of multiple teaching rooms, staff offices to the upper floors as well as a training kitchen, drama studio, technical theatre, and numerous break-out study spaces. The ground floor consists of further study spaces, MEPH plant rooms, a cafeteria and main entrance linked by a central feature atrium. The sub-structure features a piled foundation with a ground floor bear slab. The superstructure is formed by a delta beam construction which consists of precast planks connected by composite columns. The external cladding consists of a mix of clay facing brickwork, curtain walling and rainscreen cladding to the lower floors and windows to the upper floors. MEPH capita plant, Atrium roof light and roof finish complete the roof spaces. The internal fit out features drywall construction, MEPH fit out works with finishes consisting of joinery, floor finishes and decorations.
Visitors will have a tour of the site which will be at ground works stage. This means the site will be laying the building’s foundations and drainage systems. The tower crane will be in place so visitors will also be able to see lifting activities across the site.
