About the event

Over the past two years, Careys has been actively involved in the Oxford North innovation project in Oxford. This £700 million development aims to establish a new innovation district, delivering one million sq ft of laboratories and workspaces for science and technology companies, 480 new homes, and various amenities, including a market square, hotel, nursery, café, bar, and three public parks.

Careys has been instrumental in the A44 improvement works associated with the Oxford North development project. This initiative aims to transform the A44 corridor to support the new urban district, enhancing transportation infrastructure and accessibility.

Key Aspects of the A44 Improvement Works:

  • Extended In-Bound Bus Lane: The project includes the extension of the in-bound bus lane on the A44, incorporating a dedicated bus lane exit from the Peartree Park & Ride. This enhancement is designed to improve public transport efficiency and reduce congestion.

Tree-Lined City Streets: The development plans to introduce tree-lined city streets along the A44, contributing to the aesthetic appeal and environmental quality of the area.

Infrastructure Investment: As part of the Oxford North project, there is a significant investment in infrastructure, including improvements to the A44. This investment aims to enhance walking, cycling, bus, and highway networks, facilitating better connectivity to Oxford city centre and surrounding areas.

In addition to these infrastructure enhancements, Careys and other construction partners have committed to employment, skills, and training targets. This commitment focuses on engaging local labour, supporting apprenticeships, and involving disadvantaged communities, thereby ensuring that the project delivers substantial social value alongside its physical developments.

These efforts collectively aim to create a sustainable and accessible urban district, with the A44 improvements playing a crucial role in achieving this vision.
