Chester Park Junior School
Chester Park Junior School is a £4.5 million new build project. The site is above a previous water course that over time had been filled with waste from the adjacent pottery factory in the early 1900’s. Due to this the ground was high in contaminants and the site undertook an extensive remediation process to make good of the land the school has been constructed on. During construction a selection of pottery has been salvaged ranging from jugs to hot water bottles that can be viewed. Once finished the school will have 12 large classrooms to accommodate the 360 pupils that will attend the school. A wildflower meadow will act as a toad migration area around the perimeter of the school site and act as a habitat for indigenous plants and insects. Within the grounds of the school a playground and sports pitch are being provided for the pupils. Completion on 5th June 2017.

At the time of the visit, the construction of the school will be close to completion. So what you can expect to see during your visit is a building that has the steel frame, external walls and roof all completed with the internal tradesmen carrying out the fittings of the services throughout the building the decorations and flooring. At the time of writing (03/02/2017) the building is currently being made watertight which refers to all the windows being installed, the roof being fitted and any other works that will ensure that if it was to rain, no water would get inside. Hopefully this gives you an idea of how quickly the works will have progressed to the day of your visit.
