Lenamore WwPS and associated works are required to serve major housing developments in Derry.
This £6m project consists of a new WwPS, as well as the installation of rising and gravity sewers to discharge to the Culmore Trunk Sewer.
Lenamore WwPS will feature a new 11m diameter wet-well with a minimum emergency storage capacity of 277m3.
New sewers will be installed to connect the WwPS to the existing network, including a new 355mm PE100 SDR17 pumped main 1390m long and a new 315mm PVC Foul 1090m long with associated manholes.
An educational visit to the Lenamore Wastewater Pumping Station introduces visitors to the vital role pumping stations and sewer networks play in supporting growing communities. During the visit, participants will learn how the Lenamore WwPS and associated infrastructure is being developed to serve major new housing developments in the Derry area and to safely transfer wastewater to the Culmore Trunk Sewer.
The activity is designed to be interactive and informative, encouraging questions and discussion around engineering, environmental protection and sustainability.
