About the event
The Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Nottingham is a major healthcare development led by Henry Brothers Construction. Located on Lister Gate in the heart of the city centre, the project forms part of the wider Broad Marsh regeneration scheme.
The CDC will serve as a “one-stop shop” for diagnostic services, offering MRI, CT, x-ray, ultrasound, ECG, and lung function testing closer to home, reducing reliance on hospital settings. This initiative aims to improve health outcomes, cut waiting times, and tackle health inequalities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The complexity of the site, including its connection to the main Broad Marsh centre structure, and the existence of asbestos, has meant a longer design and evaluation period.
Once operational in late 2026, the centre will provide up to 140,000 appointments annually and create around 75 new jobs, supporting faster diagnoses and better patient experiences. When the unit is at full capacity it will employ 135 staff.
Activities
During their visit, students will arrive on site, sign in, and be welcomed by the site team. The experience begins with a guided site tour, where students will gain a real insight into the day-to-day operations of a live construction environment. The team will provide an overview of health and safety practices, explain why these are essential, and outline the various roles and responsibilities within the site. Throughout the tour, there will be opportunities for students to ask questions and engage with the team, helping them deepen their understanding. This interactive experience is designed to showcase the wide range of careers available in construction, from planning and management to skilled trades. By the end of the visit, students will leave with a clearer understanding of what it’s really like to work in construction and the exciting opportunities it offers.
