About the event

The Multiversity campus for Blackpool and The Fylde College will bring up to 3,000 students and staff into an inspiring, modern and aspirational new learning environment on Cookson Street. This landmark development forms a major part of the wider regeneration plans designed to make Blackpool better, replacing areas of very poor housing and delivering long‑term benefits for both the community and the town centre. By creating a vibrant new college campus with thousands of learners, the project will not only transform and brighten the surrounding area, but also generate a significant economic boost for local businesses and create more jobs for Blackpool residents.

The site previously consisted of a number of terraced houses, which are now in the process of being demolished to make way for the new building. During the visit, you will be able to observe early preparation works for the construction phase, including the installation of piling mats, the protection of key utility services, and the formation of main drainage connections. These activities mark the first visible steps towards delivering this exciting new educational facility.

This site uses CSCS Smart Check – the only platform to verify all 2.3 million CSCS-logoed cards.

Activities

During the visit, guests will be welcomed into our on‑site Knowledge Quad, where they will receive an engaging introduction to the Multiversity project and its significance for Blackpool’s wider regeneration. This overview will outline the purpose of the development, the progress made so far, and the positive impact the new campus will bring to the town centre and local communities. Visitors will then embark on a guided tour of the live construction site, offering the chance to see current works first‑hand. This will include activities such as piling mat installation, utilities protection and early drainage connections, along with explanations of the techniques, equipment and safety measures used on site. After the tour, guests will return to the Knowledge Quad, where they will have the opportunity to take part in a Q&A session with the project team. The visit will also showcase CGI images to illustrate what the completed Multiversity campus will look like.
