About the event

Mace Construct has been appointed by GPE to deliver the refurbishment of The Courtyard Building in Bloomsbury.

Originally constructed in the 20th century, The Courtyard Building forms an integral part of Bloomsbury’s historic townscape.

The refurbishment will carefully retain and enhance the existing structure, delivering high-quality office and retail accommodation that respects the building’s architectural heritage and contributing to the area’s future growth.

The proposals include:

  • A new central courtyard, designed as a high-quality amenity space for occupants
  • Enhanced entrance and façade, designed to improve the building’s presence and accessibility
  • Refurbishment and elevation of the central Cupola on Tottenham Court Road
  • New rooftop terraces, incorporating planting to support wellbeing, biodiversity and urban greening
  • Around 6,600m² of flexible office space, meeting the needs of modern businesses
  • Approximately 1,700m² of retail space, with improved frontages to Tottenham Court Road, Store Street and Alfred Place
  • Sustainable design improvements, preserving much of the existing structure to retain embodied carbon and improve overall efficiency
  • Publicly accessible retail at ground level, to activate the street and enhance the local environment

Due to an agreement with the local authority, this opportunity is open to organisations based in London Borough of Camden only.
