DFE priority school
Kier was appointed by the DfE to deliver a new multimillion pound teaching block with specialist science and ICT which was completed in November 2018, and refurbishment of the existing 1927 locally listed main school building.
Working with planning department and heritage, Kier will be removing slate tiles and brickwork columns to inspect the existing structure. The windows are being replaced with new double glazing to improve energy whilst blending in with the age of the building, Internally the classrooms will be brought upto date with new acoustic panels, ceilings and M&E, whilst keeping many of the original features of the building in tact.
The refurbishment will be carried out over 3 phases with the project due for completion in 2020.
On final completion the site compound will be turned back into sports England pitches.
