The project consists of the redevelopment of an existing carpark into 804 student bedrooms ‘Mithras’ together with a student’s union and gym, consisting of 5towers ranging from 9 storeys to 18 storeys built from Podium level.

The 804 bedroom ‘Mithras’ scheme is currently a carpark used by the University.  The site forms part of a wider masterplan to redevelop a former Army Barracks known as Preston Barracks. The developer U+I are constructing (under separate contract) 369 residential units, 534 bed student accommodation, 635m2 of ground floor retail/commercial floorspace and a central research laboratory. The University of Brighton are also constructing (under separate contract) a new multi storey carpark and teaching facilities. Both sites will be connected via a new pedestrian bridge which crosses the Lewes Road.
