A 2FE expansion project that will facilitate the school in accommodating an extra 240 students aged between 13 and 18 from 1200 total no. of students to 1440 total no. of students.
In order to provide sufficient teaching space required for the additional two forms of entry, a mixture of refurbishment and new build works need to be carried out. A new build block will house the much-needed upgraded science facilities and sixth form department, as well as providing additional general teaching space. Refurbishment of the existing sixth form centre, science department, kitchen, IT and DT areas will create the further required teaching spaces needed for the additional 240 students.
The scope of works will also include the removal of the 3nos. temporary maths huts, which will be made redundant once the new build works and refurbishment works are complete. The maths huts are currently in poor condition and beyond their expected lifespan. A four court netball pitch is to be provided along with additional car-parking spaces and site-wide soft landscaping works.
