About The Heights Academy
Brand new SEND Academy for Forward Education Trust
Tilbury Douglas are currently delivering this new build SEND Academy in Solihull. The two-storey building will provide SEN facilities for both primary and secondary school pupils (ages 7-16) with severe Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) disorders, with eventual capacity for 116 pupils. The most crucial element of this scheme is ensuring the primary and secondary school pupils remain separated, including external play areas. We worked closely with the Trust and the DfE to develop a careful segregation strategy to ensure the safeguarding of all pupils, especially when shared spaces were in use.
This included how the students will enter the new building; the secondary pupils will enter into a secure lobby on the west side of the building, continuing on upstairs to the first floor. Primary school pupils will enter via the main entrance and remain on the ground floor with most of the internal doors being access controlled to ensure safeguarding.
