About Northampton North West Relief Road
The new Northampton North West Relief Road will reduce congestion in the north-west of Northampton. It will link the A428 Harlestone Road with the A5199 Welford Road, serving the housing growth that is proposed to the west and north of Northampton. It will also help address existing congestion by providing another crossing of the river valley. The new road will also improve access to the motorway and other strategic roads.
Activity
Construction started in Summer 2023, which involved site set up, utility works, preparation of access routes, archaeological
excavations and environmental surveys. Current works include digging out of storage ponds, installation of sheet piles at river bridge, and constructing access for material movements from borrow pits to start construction of mainline works.
