About the Project
Clegg is working with the Inspire Education Group on the design and build of the three-storey reinforced concrete frame green technology centre, which is being constructed at Peterborough College’s main college campus, off Park Crescent. The £13.5m project commenced in late 2023 and is due to complete in December 2024.
The centre – which will be a low-carbon project – will offer a curriculum that includes modern methods of construction, emerging construction technologies, alternative heat sources and electric vehicle technology. It will include a total floor space of 2,300 sq m and is due to be completed towards the end of next year.

With this being a live and busy educational setting, with public access, and lessons and exams to consider, the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors is at the forefront of our approach – particularly as the building phase of the project gets underway.”
Over the course of the build, Clegg will be engaging with the college to provide experience and insight into the construction sector and associated professions for students. We’ve had a great deal of interest from the College’s students and staff, and have already delivered several ‘gate talks’ to students to help bring their studies to life.
Wider Project Team
Other members of the project team building the Centre for Green Technology include consultant Gleeds, building services consultancy QODA, architects rg+p, and civil and structural engineers Stirling Maynard.
Partially-Funded Project
Peterborough City Council has provided £1.9m towards the cost of the scheme via the Towns Funds scheme, with the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority providing £2.471m.
Activities
Visitors to Clegg’s Peterborough College scheme will see the recently poured first floor slab at the site, with preparations for constructing the second floor. Onsite that week will be project manager Roger Bancroft, alongside the reinforced concrete contractor, the quantity surveyor and the design manager.
PPE:
As this is a live construction site, all visitors will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, which will be provided by Clegg. A hard hat, gloves and high-visibility waistcoat will be provided by Clegg, but please bring your own stout footwear (i.e. work boots or wellies).

Please note that there may be a photographer on site during your tour and Clegg may use any images taken to promote the company and our activities via internal and external marketing activities. External activities may include (but are not restricted to) print publications, websites, e-marketing, poster banners, advertising, film, social media, teaching and research purposes. If you would prefer not to appear in any photos, please let us know at the time of booking or when you visit the site.
Individuals under the age of 16 who would like to appear in photos will need to have written permission from a parent or carer. Please email ash.mitchell@clegggroup.co.uk for a copy of Clegg’s photography consent form, including terms and conditions.

If accompanied with adult: Minimum age 14. If alone: minimum age 16.
Accessibility:Please be prepared to be able to walk up and negotiate 2 flights of stairs (one to the site office, and one to the first-floor of the new building as part of the tour), and walk between areas on site. The unisex guest WC is also entered via steps. We regret that the site will not be able to accommodate anyone with mobility issues at this time.
