About the event
Our project at the Dorset County Hospital delivering the new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit is a large development for healthcare provision across Dorset. The site is located in Dorchester, just off Damer’s Road, on the old Damer’s school site. The enabling works of the project are being completed over the Autumn/Winter period 2024/25, with the main construction phase beginning in the new year (2025). The project is due to be completed and open in 2027.
The layout for the ED has been be reconfigured to work better, with dedicated areas for a majors, minor, paediatrics and a dedicated mental health facility. There will also be an ambulance offload, fast assessment area, and rooftop helicopter pad. Collaborating with the hospital team and their clinical staff has been integral to designing and delivering a department which works now and into the future.
This site uses CSCS Smart Check – the only platform to verify all 2.1 million CSCS-logoed cards.
Activities
Guests will be welcomed onto site and will receive a presentation with more information on the project and works, relevant health and safety information, and some signposting for those interested in pursuing careers in construction. This will be followed by a short Q&A session.
We will then head out onto site to the viewing area, where our site team will be able to give more details on technical features of the build, as we observe.
