About the event

The Great Park Academy scheme will deliver a three-storey new build secondary school for 1,200 students with a suite of SEND support spaces. The development will help to deliver the Multi-Academy Trust’s vision to educate, support and nurture their students so they can achieve their potential and fulfil their ambitious aspirations. To facilitate this, the school will include diverse, flexible, and functional teaching spaces including sports, music, art, and drama facilities, LRC and a sports hall with its own dedicated community sports entrance.

The project will see the enhancement of the existing soft landscaping and the creation of both hard and soft informal landscaping, a dedicated KS2 play area and external learning spaces, including MUGA and off-site pitches.

Located at Great Park in Gosforth, Newcastle, the site is bordered by wildlife habitat areas and a considerate approach will be taken to minimise the impact on local wildlife. The site is also adjacent to Havannah First School, so we have carefully considered access, programme, and logistics to limit any disruptions.

The Academy has initially opened in a self-contained and purpose-built temporary block on the Gosforth Academy site until the new building is complete. The school is planned to open its doors to students at the start of the new school year in September 2025.

Activities

Each scheduled session will last approx. 90 minutes and will include a project overview, health and safety briefing and a tour of the new school site. The session will conclude with a debrief and Q&A opportunity.
