The event will be walking around two Beard Construction sites at The Hertford College and St Catherines College. The tour will start at Hertford College and end up at St Catherines College
Visitors to our Open Doors construction event will get a unique behind-the-scenes look at a live construction sites and the exciting careers within the industry. Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed with a safety briefing before being guided around the sites by experienced professionals. They’ll see real-time construction work in progress, learn about the different trades involved, and discover how projects are managed from start to finish.
The Colleges are a 7 minute walk from each other
Hertford College Library Project – The site is based at Catte Street, Oxford, OX1 3BW and the main works comprise of an archaeological dig which in preparation for the new library build. The demolition of a 1960’s building to the south of the quad. Refurbishment and modification works to the West range, Old Chapel and OB5. New build basement new building over the southern edge of the basement, comprising ground, first and second floor’s with a new external terrace. There will be a careers station at this site where visitors can learn about pathways into construction.
The St Catherines College project – The site is based at St Catherine’s College, Manor Road, Oxford OX1 3UJ and the main works comprise of the replacement of the RAAC panels in various buildings at the college and refurbishment of certain areas. There will be an activity at this site where the visitors can learn about electrical circuitry
