About the event
Tilbury Douglas is delivering the Milford Junior School redevelopment in Yeovil, Somerset, enhancing the educational environment for pupils and strengthening the community’s learning infrastructure. This important project, commissioned by the Department for Education, was awarded to Tilbury Douglas in September 2025 under a national framework and marks a significant investment in education.
The works began in late September 2025 and are scheduled to continue through May 2027, with Tilbury Douglas responsible for delivering the main construction phase. Through this role, Tilbury Douglas is providing design and build expertise to create high-quality, future-ready school facilities that support inspiring and inclusive education.
Milford Junior School itself is a well-regarded educational setting that fosters academic development alongside core values such as aspiration, collaboration and resilience, aiming to ensure every pupil thrives in a supportive environment.
This site uses CSCS Smart Check – the only platform to verify all 2.1 million CSCS-logoed cards.
Activities
Visitors will begin the event with a short induction and health and safety briefing to ensure everyone understands the site rules, required protective equipment and safe working practices. This introduction will outline key hazards, restricted areas and the procedures to follow while moving around an active construction environment.
Following the induction, guests will receive a high-level overview of the project, outlining the purpose of the new school, its main features and the programme milestones achieved to date. The team will explain how the works are being delivered, the partnerships involved and what the next stages of construction will involve.
The visit will conclude with a guided site tour, giving attendees the opportunity to observe progress first-hand and see how the new building is taking shape. Staff will be on hand throughout to answer questions and offer further insight into the project’s development.
