About the event
The redevelopment of Millennium Bridge House will provide 293,585 square feet gross internal area (GIA) of B1 class office space along with 26,177 square feet GIA of new complementary A class uses and 27,200 square feet of rooftop gardens. The architectural response draws upon the site’s rich context – the dockside heritage of the River Thames to the south and the Baroque architectural context of St Paul’s and St Mary Somerset to the north – whilst resolving complex infrastructure issues and prioritising high levels of sustainability (61% reduction in Carbon emissions over baseline Building Regulations requirements), including the retention of much of the existing structural frame. The project is currently 40% complete with an average of 70 operatives working on site daily on columns, slabs, and steel work. With the demolition and piling coming to an end soon, the number of workers and activities on site will increase significantly.
Activities
Visitors will first start off by signing into security and heading to the ISG office where they will put on their PPE. Once the group is ready, there will be an introduction to a few managers on our team and a brief on what their roles are. Visitors will have time to ask the team questions regarding their roles and learn about the apprentice, placement and graduate schemes. Next, we shall go from the top floor, Level 6, and move down to the basement. During the walk, the development and progress of the building will be explained floor by floor as well as future works that will take place. There will be focus or a more intense explanation on the activity that may be going on during the visit.
