Refurbishing the Newport Transporter Bridge, the works include: • Steel repairs to the main boom, which includes removing old paintwork via grit blasting and repainting once the repairs have been completed.
• Bracing pin inspection and replacement
• Replacement of additional Diagonal Bracing Cables
• Replacement of Oblique Stay Cables
• Replacement of Stanchion Cables
• Replacement of Stair Restraint Cables
• Replacement of Gondola and Traveller Transfer Cables
• Repainting the main suspension cables
• Repairing the hanger rods
• Currently blasting the gondola ready for repair work to begin
• East Approach Bridge refurbishment
This site uses CSCS Smart Check – the only platform to verify all 2.3 million CSCS-logoed cards.
Visitors will receive a short presentation from the site team before being taken on a guided tour around the perimeter of the active site, as well as through completed sections of the works. This will give guests the chance to see progress up close, understand how the project is being delivered, and gain insight into the different stages of construction from planning to completion.
