About the event

The works consist of new drainage, including large soak away, two storey concrete frame building, single storey building, constructed from brick and block walls, pitched and flat roofs, SFS infills to concrete frame with external skin and brickwork and some cladding, new windows and doors externally and internally, new entrances and canopies, including full accessible access, new ventilation, electrical systems, including new substation, installed by SSEN under direct order from the client, medical gas, grid and solid ceilings throughout, decorations, flooring, new lift, refurbished lift and new platform lift, new hard landscaping to the courtyard and perimeter of the building and a car parking area. Pre-construction information has been issued to Beard Construction for review and the client is in possession of the safety file from the demolitions works which was carried out by a separate contractor and can be viewed. It has been confirmed that all asbestos containing materials have been removed from site by the previous contractor and the existing Dove wing was built after the year 2000.

Activities

Visitors will be taken on a tour of the site inside and out and an explanation will be given on the different areas of the project from the medical areas, offices, canteen, lounge, gym, multi-function rooms and bedrooms, including what the patients will be able to access with gardens, quite spaces, lounge and cafeteria. We intend to have workshop stations setup for subcontractors to explain their involvement with the project and training opportunities, architects to explain their involvement and advise ways of getting involved with design and the client has offered to be involved and explain all about the charity from its beginning and what they are planning for the future.

Works activities during the visit are expected to be standing seam roofing to the single storey building, partitions, ceilings, flooring, decorations, joinery, carpentry and electrical and mechanical works throughout.
