About the event

This state-of-the-art building, designed by Nicholas Hare Architects and constructed by Willmott Dixon, is more than just an architectural achievement. It reflects Queen Mary University of London’s deep commitment to delivering inclusive, innovative, and high-impact education.

Designed to replace outdated infrastructure with flexible study spaces, quiet zones, and collaborative learning areas, the new building will accommodate students and academic staff, offering high-quality, flexible learning and teaching spaces. With landscaped terraces and green spaces, the facility will create a vibrant and welcoming environment that enhances both the campus and the surrounding public areas. Works include refurbishing two buildings of “heritage interest” and adjacent to the new building. Located in the centre of the campus next to Regent’s canal & close to two London Underground lines, the project is logistically challenging.

This site uses CSCS Smart Check – the only platform to verify all 2.1 million CSCS-logoed cards.

Activities

During the visit, the site team will offer an overview of the project and the roles involved on site before putting on some PPE to have a walk around the site and witness current operations. In March 2026, we anticipate completion of the 5-storey superstructure and commencement of façade trades.
