About the event

City centre civil engineering scheme in the heart of Sheffield, close to shops and banks including Marks and Spencer, Hotel Chocolat, Virgin Money and Metrobank. Installing under-ground bin areas, new streetlighting, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS), seating, informal play areas and paving. The purpose of the project is to regenerate Fargate and increase footfall, creating an eating, drinking and events destination in the city centre. This scheme is part of a wider project led by Sheffield Council which further incorporates plans to bring an empty building into use as an events venue, and bring the empty units above shops into use as places to live and work. The civil engineering scheme  delivered by Sisk is approximately 30% complete. We expect to be on site until the end of 2024.

Activities

Visitors will be greeted on site by a member of the scheme and walked through the project. As it is a civil engineering scheme based in the city centre, all elements can be viewed from the roadside so no PPE will be needed. Participants will be introduced to the scheme and have the chance to learn more about what the team are working on, while we are there. There will be a chance to ask questions about any part of the civil engineering work. The walkthrough will begin and end on Fargate.
