About the event

The works include the construction of new underpasses beneath both the M3 and the A34, enabling improved connectivity and future‑proofing the junction layout. Alongside this, new slip roads will be constructed for both the M3 and A34, designed to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion across the network.
The project also involves the installation of new bridge decks at Junction 9, replacing outdated structures and increasing long‑term resilience. To support this, the existing bridge decks at J9 will be carefully demolished in a controlled sequence. The junction itself will undergo significant realignment to improve safety and capacity. In addition to these major structural elements, the scheme includes extensive earthworks, landscaping, and planting to integrate the new infrastructure into the surrounding environment, enhance biodiversity, and improve the overall visual landscape.

The session will include a detailed presentation on the project, providing an overview of its purpose, key construction activities, major engineering milestones, and the benefits it will bring once complete. Attendees will gain insight into the planning, design, and delivery stages, as well as the teams and expertise involved in bringing such a complex highways scheme to life. Following the presentation, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a guided site visit, offering a first‑hand look at the works in progress, the specialist machinery being used, and the safety measures in place across the construction environment.
